About The Company
We respectfully acknowledge that we live, work and play within the traditional territory of the K’ómoks Nation.
Thank you for taking time to visit our website, and for choosing to shop locally. We really appreciate your business.
5th Street Florist has been a downtown Courtenay business for over 75 years.
Hi, I'm Ariana Bifano, and have owned and operated this shop since 2015. Prior to that I worked here for 8 years. Before moving to the island I trained, manages and worekd in the floral industrie in the North Okanagan.
Commitment to Locally Sourced Product
I work on purchasing as much local product as possible. Eight months of the year I’m able to purchase from five or more local flower farms right here in the Comox Valley. I also work year round with a grower in Victoria, and a supplier of BC grown prducts from the Lower Mainland.
This means that the families who grow the flowers that we love can support their families and their love of flowers. Plus, local growers adhear to ethical labour laws and pesticide use standards. BC grown means we are all working towards the same environmental and economical goals.
We now work with a local composting company, so all of our cuttings are composted and do not go to the landfull. We have also started two recycling programs for soft plastics and styrofoam. These efforts have reduced our waste going to the landfill by 95%.
Winner of the Reader's Choice Award for 6 Years in a Row!
My shop has won the Comox Valley Record "Readers Choice Award" for Best Flower Shop in the Comox Valley for the past 6 years: 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2023!

Occasionally, substitutions may be necessary to create your bouquet due to the availability of certain flowers in various parts of the country. Care is taken to maintain the style, theme and color scheme of the arrangement, using flowers of equal value. Additionally, the substitution of certain keepsake items may be necessary due to increased demand, especially during major holidays. In single-flower arrangements, such as an all rose bouquet, or orchids, we will make every attempt to match the flower type, but may substitute with another color.
