5th Street Florist has been a downtown Courtenay business for over 75 years.
Hi, I'm Ariana Bifano, and have owned and operated this shop since 2015. Prior to that I worked here for 8 years.
Commitment to Locally Sourced Product
I work on purchasing as much local product as possible. Eight months of the year I’m able to purchase from five or more local flower farms right here in the Comox Valley. I also work year round with a grower in Victoria, and a supplier in Vancouver.
This means that the families who grow the flowers that we love can support their families and their love of flowers. Pluse, local growers adhear to ethical labour laws and pesticide use standards. BC grown means we are all working towards the same environmental and economical goals.
Environmental Commitment
We now work with a local composting company, so all of our cuttings are composted. and do not go to the landfull. We have also started two recycling programs for soft plastics and styrofoam. These efforts have reduced our waste going to the landfill by 95%.

I have put together a great team.
Our design team is well rounded with extensive experience in all areas.
I have over 20 years experience as a florist.
Deb has over 40 years experience as a florist, including cruise line floral design, Commonwealth Games floral design team, and also as owner of her own flower shop.
Stacey has over 14 years experience as a florist, starting in Europe.
Della, Bilen, Jen and Cat round out our team with many other skills and qualifications.

FEES - A local delivery fee of $10.00 will be added to each order, for each address. (For deliveries outside our local delivery area, this fee may vary.)
US ORDERS - must be received before 1:00 p.m. in the recipient's time zone to assure same-day delivery. Orders received after that time will be delivered the following day.
We will do our best to accommodate deliveries at specific times of day, but we cannot guarantee it.
NO SUNDAY DELIVERY - We are unable to make deliveries on Sundays. Deliveries requested on this day will be delivered the following business day.
Delivery of orders to rural route addresses or cemeteries cannot be guaranteed.
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS - We will be happy to accept your international orders if you call our shop directly, or order through our website.
Occasionally, substitutions may be necessary to create your bouquet due to the availability of certain flowers in various parts of the country. Care is taken to maintain the style, theme and color scheme of the arrangement, using flowers of equal value. Additionally, the substitution of certain keepsake items may be necessary due to increased demand, especially during major holidays. In single-flower arrangements, such as an all rose bouquet, or orchids, we will make every attempt to match the flower type, but may substitute with another color.
